Petite baby session!

Little cutie pie came for her first professional photography session and I couldn’t be more thrilled to photograph another baby other than my own! Baby photography sessions are so much fun because you never know what funny faces each child will make and it’s amazing that no matter how little they are, their personalities still shine through!

It’s also a lot of fun to dress the baby up and even just putting them on the spot, they seem to be aware that they’re the star of the show. Enjoy these cute images of my little model baby from last week!

San Francisco Romance with Michael & Anne

Michael and Anne celebrated their engagement by doing a photo shoot with me about three weeks ago here in San Francisco, and little did they know they’d have to bare through the SF summer…a very cold summer indeed! Yes, Mark Twain was right, the coldest winter you’ll ever experience is a summer in San Francisco. But despite the cold, these two turned up the heat and we had fun shooting in two iconic San Francisco locations- Baker Beach with a stunning and foggy view of the Golden Gate Bridge, and The Palace of Fine Arts, known for its picturesque architecture and scenery.

The winners of the engagement giveaway, these two took away the engagement session, professional makeup done by Lisa Teller, who has also worked with me several times doing a fantastic job for boudoir shoots on hair and makeup. Anne also won a beautiful handmade hair piece by Serenity Crystal, a local artisan whose work is available on Etsy!

I loved working with Michael and Anne. Their style has such a classic urban feel (and check out Anne’s nails!). I hope these images remind you of your love and fun experience always!

Before and After…finding the fine line between too much and too little?

With Photoshop being almost always a must in portrait photography, many of us start out as “Photoshop happy” users, many times resulting in over-photoshopped images that look unrealistic and even unrecognizable. I’ve been asked to do a lot for my clients and I was always happy to please. I started becoming unhappy, though, when I saw some of the results and seeing a fantasy version of the people I was photographing.

I’ve come to realize I like some fantasy, but not too much. So I strive to find the fine line to enhance my portraits and keep them realistic. Here’s an image where you’ll be able to see the difference. What do you think and how much is too much for you?

2012 NorCal Jalisco Girls

Had a blast meeting  and photographing the candidates for Federacion Jalisco del norte de California. These young and beautiful girls will be competing for the 2012 title of Miss Jalisco NorCal on August 18th and will be wearing “trajes tipicos” or regional dresses from the Mexican state of Jalisco.

Wishing you all good luck, and most of all, to have a blast and enjoy every moment!

Like the jewelry???

The girl’s fine jewelry is sponsored by Obdy Luxury FERI designs. Check out the site to shop for the pieces…they’re gorgeous!

Happy Birthday, America!

Hey, America, it’s that time of the year!  Are you ready to go shoot some awesome fireworks?

I figure everyone can use some pointers and reminders on how to best produce some great firework imagery! I’m sharing with you this 3 minute video that will give you some insight on how to sharpen your skills and be ready for the Fourth of July!

One thing not mentioned in the video is the use of a remote control for your camera. If you do not have one, setting the camera on timer will work so you produce less noise and shake. But if you do, then this will give you more control over the timing of the show and what you want to capture.

Have a safe and fun Independence Day, everyone!!
